Welcome to the
Greenmeadow Marlins
2006 Swim Team
About Swim
Team
The swim
team is a four-month competitive summer swim program open to all children
through the age of 18 who are family members of the Greenmeadow Community
Association. Children of all ability levels, who can complete at least one
length of the pool with acceptable proficiency, are invited to join the team.
Good sportsmanship, teamwork, stroke technique and the joy of swimming and fun
are emphasized. Practices are offered through out the season at various times
from spring break to the end of July. Attendance at all practices is not
mandatory, although swimmers are encouraged to attend as many practices as
possible. Swimmers are grouped by age and ability for practice. Swimmers
compete with swimmers of the same gender and age group. Age group placement is
determined by the swimmer's age on May 31.
The Greenmeadow Marlins are members of the Junipero Serra Swim League (JSSL), along with Eichler, Brookside, Cupertino Hills, Laurelwood, and Saratoga Woods. Home and away meets alternate each year with each club. The first meet is a practice meet held at Greenmeadow, followed by 5 dual swim meets with the other JSSL teams. The season ends with an all-day championship meet, followed by an awards dinner and pool party.
Each swimmer has a folder in the Swim Team file box kept near the pool office. Check it often for notices, ribbons, etc. Communications are by e-mail.
Fees are listed on the Swim Team Registration Form. Attendance at the April 23rd Parent Meeting is required for all new members and recommended for returning members.
