Jan 9 PAN Block Preparedness Coordinator Meeting
This is an invitation to attend the PAN (Palo Alto Neighborhood
Association) Block Preparedness Coordinator (BPC) Program Rollout
Meeting which will take place on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 from
7-8:30 PM at the Palo Alto Friends Meeting Hall, 957 Colorado Ave. in
Palo Alto.
The BPC Program is an effort to organize Palo Alto neighborhoods to
prepare for a major disaster such as an earthquake or pandemic flu.
The basic concept is to have a person on each block (the Block
Preparedness Coordinator) trained to be a point of contact between the
neighborhood and first responders (CERTS/PANDAS) so that critical
information about conditions on the block and status of first
responders can be passed back and forth. There are many other aspects
of this program which will be described at the Rollout Meeting. The
City of Palo Alto fully supports this PAN program and it is an
important component of the City's Emergency Preparedness Plan. We
expect to have an assistant city manager, the Palo Alto Homeland
Security Officer, representatives from the Police and Fire departments
and, perhaps a City Council Member at the meeting.
It is very important to this program and for your own neighborhood
that you, as one of your neighborhood leaders, attend this meeting.
Please feel free to invite anyone else on your association board to
attend.
I hope to see you there.

Chairman, PAN Block Preparedness Coordinator Program Committee
